Curriculum Model:

It is a Hybrid curriculum to enable constructive learning and foster the student with up to date theoretical data base, with practical reinforcement and motivating clinical application.

The curriculum is applied with vertical and horizontal integration between the different sectors.


The aim of this curriculum is to graduate a dentist   who has adequate scientific knowledge, professional skills and attitudes which are required for carrying out all the activities appropriate to general dental practice involving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The graduate should also understand the concept of community oral health education and be able to participate in the rural health care delivery programs existing in the country, and that he have appropriate foundation for lifelong learning for further training in any modality of dental practice, specialties and scientific research.


The student should acquire the following during the period of teaching and training:

  1. Adequate knowledge of the scientific foundations on which dentistry is based and good understanding of various relevant scientific methods, principles of biological functions and should be able to evaluate and analyze scientifically various established facts and data.
  2. Adequate knowledge of the development, structure and function of the teeth, mouth and jaws and associated tissues both in health and disease and their relationship and effect on general-state of health and also the bearing on physical and social well-being of the patient.
  3. Apply knowledge on models as preclinical practice to develop clinical skills
  4. Adequate knowledge of clinical disciplines and methods, which provide a coherent picture of anomalies, lesions and diseases of the teeth, mouth and jaws and preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of dentistry.
  5. Adequate clinical experience required for general dental practice.
  6. Apply knowledge & skills in day to day practice.
  7. Apply principles of ethics.
  8. Analyze the outcome of treatment.
  9. Evaluate the scientific literature and information to decide the treatment.
  10. Participate and involve in professional bodies.
  11. Capable of self-assessment and be willing to update the knowledge & skills from time to time.
  12. Inclined to do simple research projects.
  13. Aware of his own limitations and know when to refer patients to specialists.
